Job Description

As a Composite Design Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of our engineering team, responsible for shaping the future of composite design and manufacturing. Your expertise will drive the creation of CAD models, drawing definitions, tooling designs, and product specifications, Bill of Materials (BOM) ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. You will join the Technical job family in our Advanced Manufacturing Facility at 523, Ratanpur, Panki, Kanpur – 208020, Uttar Pradesh, India. The role is Full-time and Permanent.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate shall be responsible for performing the following activities:

  • Generate CAD models and precise drawing definitions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards and specifications.
  • Design mould tools, jigs, and fixtures for composite manufacturing processes, optimising efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and maintain Design Standards and Product Specifications, ensuring consistency and compliance across projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate accurate BOM for products, sub-assemblies and components.
  • Utilise FEA and CFD simulations to assess the structural and thermal performance of composite designs.
  • Investigate failure mechanisms and analyse root causes to enhance design reliability and durability.
  • Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimise production processes.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure a seamless transition from design to production.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise to contribute to the overall success of projects.

Key Personal Attributes, Experiences and Qualifications

The successful candidate shall demonstrate the following attributes:

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Design Engineer, incl. UAV Platform and Tool Design, GD&T, BOM and FMEA.
  • Ability to generate CAD models and assembly drawings in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or similar.
  • Understanding of Engineering principles and proven experience in running FEA and CFD simulations.
  • Understanding of Design, Analysis and Failure Mechanism in FRP Composite Structures.
  • Familiarity with fixed-wing, multirotor and/or hybrid UAV development processes.
  • Proficient in using IT systems such as ERP, Microsoft365, SharePoint, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Able to work under minimal supervision while ensuring good communication is maintained with stakeholders.
  • Good Bachelor, Master and/or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Product Design Engineering, or similar.
  • Experience in UAV, Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, Marine industry, or similar.

Desired

  • 5 Years+ experience in UAV platform design and development experience.
  • Familiarity with Indian Drone Policy and UAV Type Certification Requirements.
