Job Description

As a Composite Technician, you will play a vital role in the manufacturing process, ensuring the precision and quality of our composite products. Your expertise will be integral to achieving accurate patterns, precise material mixing, meticulous mould preparation, and the production of superior composite parts using a range of advanced techniques. You will join the Operations job family in our Advanced Manufacturing Facility at 523, Ratanpur, Panki, Kanpur – 208020, Uttar Pradesh, India. The role is Full-time and Permanent.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate shall be responsible for performing the following activities:

  • Performing kitting of composite raw materials (e.g. fabric, preforms, prepreg, core)
  • Ensuring accurate and precise patterns and mould tools are obtained.
  • Mixing resins and other materials by following established manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Preparing mould tools for lamination process, ensuring proper mould release application.
  • Manufacturing conforming composite parts using wet (hand) layup, resin infusion, resin transfer moulding, prepreg moulding, roll wrapping, filament winding and/or compression moulding processes.
  • Overseeing the curing process to ensure proper material consolidation and strength.
  • Carrying out trimming and machining of composite parts which meets design specification.
  • Applying paint and other protective coatings as required, achieving the desired finish.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation in adherence to ISO9001 and AS9100 standards and other relevant quality guidelines.

Key Personal Attributes, Experiences and Qualifications

The successful candidate shall demonstrate the following attributes:

Essential

  • Interpersonal attributes align with Datum’s core business values and behaviours.
  • Diploma in plastic engineering/mechanical engineering/chemical engineering.
  • Proven experience in composites manufacturing processes and joining techniques.
  • Proficient in kit cutting, lamination, curing, trimming, and painting of composite materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent precision and craftsmanship.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively.
  • Exceptional teamwork and communication skills.

Desired

  • 5+ years of experience in composite processing methods such as wet layup, resin infusion, resin transfer moulding, filament winding, compression moulding and prepreg moulding.
  • Advanced vocational training or certification in composites manufacturing or a related field.
  • Experience working with advanced composite materials and aerospace components.
  • Familiarity with CNC machines and other relevant equipment.
  • Strong understanding of ISO9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
