Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Materials Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the research, development, and implementation of novel materials and manufacturing processes. You will join the Technical job family in our Advanced Manufacturing Facility at 523, Ratanpur, Panki, Kanpur – 208020, Uttar Pradesh, India. The role is Full-time and Permanent.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate shall be responsible for performing the following activities:

  • Lead the design and development of composite materials for specific applications, ensuring optimal performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative manufacturing processes that enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct material testing, analysis, and characterisation to validate performance against industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to materials or processes in the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, incorporating new techniques to enhance our product offerings.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and findings to drive project success, presenting ideas, reporting on project progress, and contributing to technical discussions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of materials development processes, testing results, and process parameters, ensuring that knowledge is effectively shared within the team and in future.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that the manufactured products meet established quality standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with materials, equipment, and processes. Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with industry regulations and company safety policies.
  • Take ownership of projects related to materials development and process optimisation, involving project planning, resource allocation, progress tracking, and timely delivery of project milestones.

Key Personal Attributes, Experiences and Qualifications

The successful candidate shall demonstrate the following attributes:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in composite materials development and process engineering.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, their properties, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools for composite material analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to experimentation and prototyping.
  • Proficiency in test specimen preparation, using test equipment as per the standards and customer requirements.
  • Ability to generate high-quality technical documents and reports for internal use, publications and patents.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Desired

  • Master’s or PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with automation and robotics in composite manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards in the aerospace or automotive industries.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools for process optimisation.
